Honor Killings Shamed

Radical Islam will not change overnight– the first imperative is to protect it’s victim’s in our own country.  When an honor killing occurs in America, it must be identified correctly as a heinous crime perpetrated by men who subscribe to a radical ideology that disrespects the rights upon which our country was founded.  If we fail to protect the rights of Muslim women in America, than we fail at our charter.

John Avlon wrote an excellent article highlighting this encroaching phenomena in yesterday’s New York Post, “When a blonde girl goes missing, cable networks stop in their tracks – but when a Muslim woman is murdered by her father, there’s not a ripple of sustained interest. Where’s the outrage?”

My Beautiful Mommy

I have no problem with a children’s book aimed at softening a kid’s trauma when their mom comes home in bandages.  Even if the bandages are from a nose job and tummy tuck, as is the case with the protagonist mother in “My Beautiful Mommy”, written by a Bal Harbor plastic surgeon.  Kids panic easily when everything is not ok– this book explains that Mom isn’t sick, she is just becoming “prettier”.  

Yuck! 

Our overly image conscious culture has made elective cosmetic plastic surgery a replacement for cultivating lasting self-esteem and self-respect.  

 

I prefer the culture that values female beauty as it passes through the seasons of a woman’s life. 

Sexy changes for women as the years go by.  It takes a creative woman to pull it off, to embrace change, and find ways to still be sexy, without looking like 19 year old stick figure, almost impossible after birthing any kids.  What happened to embracing the life cycle and living healthily with robust self-image and ego?

“The View” on Rudy’s Morality

No republican guest co-hosts ”The View” without expecting a Bush-bashing, Cheney-bashing, Republican-presidential-candidate-bashing, and in my case, Herbert Hoover-bashing session.  So it was no surprise that Rudy-bashing became the winning ticket.

As background, I worked for Rudy Giuliani early in his presidential exploratory efforts.  He told us to raise him money, and then he’d decide if he would file as a candidate for the Republican nomination.  When I started in September 2006, I stayed just long enough to start up his Presidential Exploratory Committee, then left to pursue my interest in voicing my own opinions, through this blog, via Fox News, and most recently on “The View”. 

For those who missed the show, Joy Behar hammered home her view that no one should support Rudy Giuliani’s candidacy based on his infamous dumping of his second wife during a live press conference while he was mayor of New York City.

Last time I checked, adultry was a non-partisan issue, equally despicable regardless of your political perspective.  I may be a republican, but I won’t defend the indefensible. 

Curiously, Ms. Behar, supports the successes of the Clinton presidency, even though he made a fool of his wife with a 22 year old intern in the Oval Office, in front of the entire world.  And she has the nerve to say that “people don’t like the way” Rudy went about dumping his wife.  Love the liberal double speak. 

Katie Couric conducted an interesting interview with all the candidates, asking them the following question:  Harry Truman once said, “A man not honorable in his marital relations is not usually honorable in any other.” Some people say they don’t feel comfortable supporting someone who has not remained faithful to his or her spouse. Can you understand their reservations?
